With the water swirler you can easily connect an empty and a full water bottle. If you then hold the bottles vertically so that the filled bottle is pointing upwards, something remarkable happens: although water normally flows downwards, it stays in the top bottle as if by magic. If you then swirl the water around, a whirlpool forms and the water flows into the lower bottle. But how does such a bottle tornado arise? As the water inside the top bottle is circulated, centrifugal force pushes it against the walls of the bottle. A wild whirlpool of water is created quite simply.
